Meta introduced Llama 3.1 in 8B, 70B, and 405B sizes, with a 128K context window and support for eight languages.

The 405B release widened the range of powerful downloadable models. Its scale also makes infrastructure planning essential: accessible weights do not mean effortless local inference.
